  1. I have bought pants at the shopping mall on second road close to Pattaya Nua road. There are many shops in the mall along with Big C and a cinema. I did not find any bargains but at least they had my size.
  2. I will make it a point to visit. Is it difficult finding a table? I suppose it is a first come, first serve venue?
  3. I have not heard much of the 30 baht plan recently. I wonder if it is still available? I hope so. Here is an article about the plan, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2040138/ According to the article, it was introduced in 2001 and passed into law November of 2002. Anyone know if this plan is still funded?

  5. What is 150 baht, maybe five bucks? Really not worth all the hassle. I thought a Canadian, teaching in Japan, would be smarter than this!

I agree. If you have only three days, stay in Bangkok. Many things to see and do. I might suggest a river taxi ride up and down the Chao Phraya river. I enjoyed seeing the Jim Thompson house, too. This museum is an old teak home and worth seeing, in my opinion. What are your interests? We might be able to suggest more sights.
  7. I bet the beer garden would be a great place to watch the fireworks over Pattaya bay.
  8. If anyone hears of a Pattaya Issan Festival in February, please post it. I would love to experience the music and dancing.
  9. Windows 7 came with my new computer I bought. I have not used it much and not sure of all it will do. So far, it is easy to use and I have had no problems, as of yet.
  10. Air Asia seems to do their best in taking off and landing on time. They are improving. On another subject, does anyone know if you are able to fly on a "space available" basis with Air Asia. For example, if I have a ticket to return on the 15th and decide to return home on the 14th, is this possible? I know if you do it via the internet, it will be a hassle and probably more money. Just wondering if they had empty seats on a flight, whether it may be possible?
  11. Super Bowl 44 will take place, February 7 in Miami. Will you watch it and where?
  12. I like the taste of beer. I really do not have a problem if it is Chang, Singha, Tiger, San Miguel, Henieken, or whatever. Just make it cold.
  13. Although the "squirter" as you call it, is not exactly like a bidet, the concept is somewhat similiar. The French have been using bidet's since the 1700's and many people think it much more practical than toilet paper. I see nothing wrong with using the squirter as long as a good handwashing occurs after the fact.
  14. So many of the hill tribe people are taken advantage of and discriminated against. To have PM Abhisit say they were not forced to leave is a joke.
  15. Mea culpa, your highness. Agreeing with you is not permitted?
  16. This is Thailand, but I thought things might change for the better. Chances of another major tsunami are small, but it would be nice to have a warning system in place.

You can still buy 330 ml of Archa beer for 20 baht and 330 ml of San Mig Lite for 40 baht? Looks like nothing has changes even after AFTA has come into play.
  18. Being rude and cursing is no way to treat anyone, especially a Thai. If a Thai loses face, you are in big trouble. I would have paid the 150 baht and chalked it up to experience. I agree though, he did not deserve a beating.
  19. I like the taste of green tea, although it is not always available in restaurants. I should fix it more at home.

    Booze Tax

Now that we are in the new year, has anyone noticed any difference in the price of booze?

Quote, "I have met many people over the years who did not fit their names for one reason or another. " That is for sure. I am not really a wino, although I do enjoy a glass now and then.
  22. I was at Pattaya immigration office the other day and Mr. Barry Kenyon was there, as you say Thaimo. What a nice man. He was at the office helping everyone, not only British citizens. The little Thai trainees were helpful to me but I saw Barry answer questions and helping others.
  23. I haven't notice much of a difference, either. Although I a friend of mine is delighted with the speed of his broadband. He says it is so much better this year than last.
  24. In the rainy season, it is hard not to wade through standing water. I always worry about electrical wires and water. I often see loose wires sticking out of old lamp posts and other places. It is scary.
  25. I love this festivals that are held in Pattaya. When is the next one? I think there is a festival the middle of February.
