I agree 100% Thaimo. I have not used a GPS in Thailand, but once you use one, it is hard to go without. For about $150 you can have the world at your fingertips.

The married couple are brother and sister, or at least first cousins! Is this Findlay Ohio across the river from Kentucky? I think Findlay is northern Ohio.

Very nice of Air Asia to accommodate your request. I think they try and take care of the customer as much as possible. Helps if the customer is nice and not demanding like some farangs tend to be. Having a pleasant demeanor tends to bring better results rather than loud and boisterous.

Beer is brewed much the same way. Not sure there is much difference, in my opinion.

Almost Half of Thai Men Smoke?

I have no idea, but would suspect it high. I believe someone stated the life expectancy was 7 years less in Thialand compared to the US. -

I was not aware of the devotion Thais have for this king. BIG KING TAKSIN CEREMONY AT PATTAYA CITY HALL King “Taksin the Great†was exactly that, having performed the feat of re-capturing much of Thailand that had fallen into the hands of the Burmese and Cambodians in former centuries. Promoted as “The Greatest King Taksin Ceremony†this ceremony went from 7.00 am until around midday and the Buddhist ceremony was followed by an even longer Hindu religious event. Pattaya, - Monday 28th December 2009 [PDN]: - This prestigious event saw Pattaya’s Mayor, Itthiphol Khunplome and Banglamung Police Chief, Colonel Somnuk Changate both led their officers at the early morning Buddhist Monk’s prayers. At this ceremony all of the many officials looked spectacular in their official white uniforms, and these ceremonies are held with great reverence. Then came something very unusual in the form of a long Hindu religious service that lasted around two hours, and you may well ask where does Hinduism fit into this picture? The answer is that in ancient times Thailand was dominated by the Hindu religion, but the more powerful Buddhist religion so Hindus had to accept this and work together in partnership with their Buddhist counterparts. In the final stages of this large ceremony various government departments stood behind their leaders as they placed royal orbs and other relevant religious objects in front of King Taksin’s statue, which has a commanding position in front of Pattaya City Hall. Taksin’s rule (1734 - 1782) was the only made by a Thai King from the city of Thonburi. He is greatly revered and respected by the Thai people for liberating Thailand (Siam) from Burmese occupation after the second fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. He established Thonburi as the countries new capital after Ayutthaya was almost completely destroyed by the Burmese siege. His reign was typified by war and oppression, subjugating the Northern Thai Kingdom of Lanna, the Laotian principalities and an every threatening Cambodia. He was succeeded by the Rattanakosin Kingdom and the current Chakri Dynasty. The Thai people have now officially recognized him as a Maharaj Taksin (Taksin The Great). http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.php?IDNEWS=0000011583

If they don't have motorbike taxis, I think Pattaya has a couple hundred extra taxi guys we could send them.

I have used map quest and google map, as well. GPS is nice because it talks to you and can give new directions if you make a wrong turn. Prices have come down and models are very affordable. I paid around $1,300 for a GPS about a decade ago. Now, I have seen them as cheap as $125.

We have had this discussion before and I am glad you believe that a person’s sex life, whether gay or straight, should be private. Let's leave it at that.

Catholics don't have have a monopoly on it but have had years of practice. These television preachers are just as bad. Always asking for money and targeting the old.

Air Asia's advertising slogan is, "now everyone can fly." How true it is. I have never seen airfares so cheap.

TV helps too, especially if you have cable or satellite. -
Budweiser? Is that still an American beer? I guess so, even if it is owned by a Belgium corporation.

Almost Half of Thai Men Smoke?
Wino replied to WannaGo's topic in Living, Playing, and Reminiscing about Thailand
Definitely smoking is no good for your health. Doctors now know smoking plays a big role in heart disease and cancer. I feel sorry for the youth of the third world. Smoking is still seen as manly and cool. -

I can think of many more ways to spend my money. A luxury hotel room/villa is not high on my list. -
U.N. Demands Access to Lao Hmong Deported By Thailand
Wino replied to CrazyExpat's topic in Thailand News
Seems like the Hmong are getting a lousy shake. The UN demands are not unreasonable. -
Many of the poor in the US have subsidized housing, A/C, TV (sometimes cable), phone (often cell phone), food stamps in which some sell for cigarette or drug money. In my opinion, there is no comparison between the poor in the USA and the poor in SE Asian countries.

Looks like Washington D.C. is much more progressive. Seems gay marriage and medical marajuana will be legal soon. http://www.sphere.com/nation/article/dc-could-join-13-states-where-medical-marijuana-is-legal/19275067
