Good thing you didn't turn it into the cops. Most likely they would have enjoyed the 60 bucks.

I know many people who would love to be paid $450 to get drunk.

How could anyone feed a two year old a wine mixture and then try to kill him with sewing needles. Throw them both in jail and throw away the key.

Looks like the Daily Beast and other tabloid were right on when they reported about poor old Tiger. Hard to believe that those money grabbing bitches would say so many lies about the sportman of the decade! Here is an article that discusses the possiblity of Tiger being addicted to sex. Is Tiger Woods a sex addict? What do you think? (Dec. 10) -- As the Tiger Woods scandal(s) head for a third week, the perhaps inevitable question is being asked: Is he a sex addict? Thursday morning, following the lead of CBS, ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" devoted segments to the topic, completing its evolution from tabloid speculation to mainstream conversation starter. And not surprisingly, a myriad of experts have availed themselves to the media to offer up their professional judgments, including executive director of L.A.'s Sexual Recovery Institute Robert Weiss and sports psychologist Richard Lustberg. But if these counselors and psychologists have never had a one-on-one (and here we mean a therapy session) with the golfer, what are they basing their diagnoses on? If you've been following the saga, you'll recognize some of the purported evidence: One of Tiger Woods'alleged mistresses, Holly Sampson. He led a double life. A week after details of Woods' extramarital affairs began to emerge, the Woods mistress count includes two porn stars, a lingerie model and a host of waitresses. Weiss told CBS' "The Early Show" that living very different public and private lives -- keeping covered a "hot bubble of secrets" -- is classic sex addict behavior. He did it again -- and again. So far, 13 women have been named, or named themselves, as alleged flings. Manhattan author and therapist Bonnie Eaker Weil said of Woods' situation that repetitive cheating is an addiction. "What begins with a desire to relieve stress or mute depression easily progresses to a preoccupation with where their next 'fix' will come from," she wrote in a news release. As Lustberg told ABC News, pro athletes, accustomed to the rush of celebrity, often look to sex for a similar high. He liked it outside. Woods reportedly had sex in a church parking lot with 33-year-old diner waitress Mindy Lawton. David Smallwood, addictions manager at London's Priory clinic, told Britain's News of the World that publicly chancy behavior signals an uncontrollable craving. "Outdoor sex is a way of creating excitement," he said. "The more sex he has, the more he will want, and the more outlandish he will try to make it. He eschewed protection. Us Weekly reported that during cocktail waitress Jaimie Grubbs' 31-month affair with the golfer, Woods never wanted to use protection. Lawton's sister, Lynn, concurred. "It's self-destructive behavior," psychotherapist Rhonda Findling, author of "Don't Call That Man!" told the magazine. "Sometimes it's just momentary stupidity, but this seems like sexual addiction." He left documentation. In a series of now-public text messages with Grubbs, Woods alluded to sex and asked for naked photos. Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of VH1's "Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew," told CBS News that addiction "has people doing things that don't make sense." Grubbs claims to have more than 300 text messages from Woods saved on her phone and has released a voicemail she says is from Woods, asking her to change the name on her caller ID, saying that "my wife may be calling you." He seemed to almost want to get busted. Along with his many far-flung rendezvous, Woods reportedly took at least one woman home with him. Lawton has said she slept with Woods at the Florida home he shares (shared?) with wife Elin Nordegren and their two young children. As Pinsky told CNN, "most of these guys want to get caught." All the same, though, a sex addiction diagnosis might prove to be Woods' get-out-of-jail card; it's a defense that's allowed celebs like David Duchovny and Michael Douglas to maintain both their careers and their famous wives. "Once you medicalize it ... then the guy has an excuse," Columbia University psychologist Judy Kuriansky told ABC. At the very least, claiming sex addiction might work better than arguing that his indiscretions were just Tiger being Tiger, as Psychology Today writer Stanton Peele seems to have argued. "The same single-mindedness, skill set and gift for robotic calculation that make Tiger Woods the world's greatest golfer," Peele wrote, "make him an avatar of the bedroom." With the holidays upon us, many tend to drink too much and must deal with the next day hangover. This article says if you drink vodka rather than burbon, your next day hangover will not be as bad. Here is the article. Rachael Rettner, staff Writer livescience.com – Fri Dec 18, 2009 If you've ever had one too many drinks during a night out, you're probably familiar with the dreaded aftermath: the hangover. Turns out, your liquor of choice could influence your morning headache. A new study finds that, compared with vodka, if you down too much bourbon, you're likely to have a worse hangover. But when it comes to your next-day activities, it doesn't matter which of the two beverages you drink, your performance is likely to be the same. The study involved 95 participants ages 21 to 33 who were heavy drinkers, but had no history of alcohol abuse. Their arduous task: Get drunk. And they got paid - $450, to boot! The authors weren't simply looking at the effects of alcohol, however. They were specifically interested in the levels of toxic substances called congeners in the alcohol. These compounds are byproducts of alcohol fermentation, and they are partly responsible for the alcohol's color. Darker liquors and wines have more congeners than lighter ones - for instance, the amount of congeners in bourbon is 37 times the amount in vodka, according to the study. "While the alcohol alone is enough to make many people feel sick the next day, these toxic natural substances can add to the ill effects as our body reacts to them," Damaris Rohsenow, a professor at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown University, said in a statement. Rohsenow and her colleagues wanted to investigate whether or not congener levels had any effect on hangover symptoms the following day, or the ability of people to perform certain tasks. Participants consumed either vodka or bourbon mixed with caffeine-free cola on one night, until until they had drunk about the minimum amount required to induce a hangover, the researchers say. On a separate night, the participants unknowingly drank a placebo, in this case, cola with tonic and a few drops of either bourbon or vodka in order to avoid serious suspicions that the beverage was in fact a placebo. Once the subjects' breath alcohol levels had reached about zero, they were asked to fill out questionnaires regarding how they felt. They also performed tasks to measure their cognitive function, which tested the subjects' ability to pay close attention to a task while also making rapid choices. Not surprisingly, alcoholic drinks made people feel more hung-over than the placebo, but bourbon made people feel even worse than vodka, Rohsenow said. And while alcohol also impaired the subjects' performance on the cognitive tasks, "they did no worse after bourbon than after vodka," Rohsenow said. The study also looked at the effects of alcohol on sleep, and found that although alcohol did disrupt sleep, people who drank bourbon slept just as well as those who drank vodka. "This means that bourbon's greater effects on hangover are not due to it having greater effects on sleep," Rohsenow said. The results will be published in the March 2010 issue of the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research. The study was funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the National Center for Research Resources, among others. http://news.yahoo.co...dindrunkenstudy

I wish there were more positive new stories like this. This boy scout returns a purse with almost $2,000 in it. He didn't do it for the reward but received $100. You think that was fair? GREENSBORO, N.C. (Dec. 16) -- An 11-year-old North Carolina boy has found and returned a stolen purse with nearly $2,000 inside. The News & Record of Greensboro reported Wednesday that Edward Myers and his siblings were helping neighbors plant trees in a Greensboro park when he spotted a purse on the creek bank. The Boy Scout and his mother called the police, and the purse's owner showed up to collect. The owner told police her car was broken into on Thanksgiving. Police say the thief took $30 out of the main billfold but missed $1,900 in another compartment before flinging the purse into the creek. The owner rewarded Edward with one of the $100 bills. He gave $40 of it to his mother and spent the other $60 on a Carolina Panthers jersey. http://www.sphere.com/nation/article/boy-scout-edward-myers-returns-purse-containing-2000/19284144

Although this crime is nasty, I think castration is a bit severe. What would you have done to the woman, Angelina Ribeiro dos Santos?

Must be something about human nature to believe in an apocalyptic destruction. Seems like the “end is near†folks have been around for millennia. Here is an interesting article from the Smithsonian about 10 apocalyptic predictions that obviously never happened. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeology/69901492.html

Two more additions. LOS ANGELES – Brittany Murphy, the actress who got her start in the sleeper hit "Clueless" and rose to stardom in "8 Mile" before her movie roles declined in recent years, died Sunday in Los Angeles of what appeared to be natural causes, a Los Angeles County coroner's official said. She was 32. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_obit_brittany_murphy;_ylt=AtDeg1Nh71P_90JCaN2k2Ey9IxIF;_ylu=X3oDMTM3MnZqNWRsBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkxMjIxL3VzX29iaXRfYnJpdHRhbnlfbXVycGh5BGNjb2RlA3JhbmRvbQRjcG9zAzMEcG9zAzMEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yaWVzBHNsawNhY3RyZXNzYnJpdHQ- TEHRAN, Iran – The spiritual father of Iran's reform movement died Sunday at the age of 87, prompting thousands of his followers to immediately head to the holy city where the dissident cleric is to be buried. A huge display of mourning for Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri could transform his funeral Monday into another display of power by the opposition, whose activists have for months defied a brutal crackdown, a mass trial and abuses in detention to denounce the country's hard-line clerical rulers. Opposition leaders called for people to turn out for a day of mourning. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091220/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iran_obit_montazeri

More info on this sicko. By BRADLEY BROOKS, Associated Press Writer RIO DE JANEIRO – A Brazilian man publicly confessed to pushing dozens of needles into his 2-year-old stepson, saying Sunday in a jail cell interview that he intended to kill the boy out of spite for his wife and didn't think he would be discovered. Speaking to Globo television's "Fantastico" program from the northeastern state of Bahia, 30-year-old bricklayer Roberto Carlos Magalhaes described mixing water with wine to dope the child before he and his lover held the boy down and stuck sewing needles into him. "I did this two or three times a week during one month," Magalhaes said. The boy was too drunk on the wine mixture to cry while he inserted the needles, he said, but felt the pain after the alcohol wore off. "It was truly an unbearable suffering," said Magalhaes. "It was to get back at the boy's mother. I thought the needles would work their way through his body and kill the boy. It was a way to kill without anyone discovering." But the pain led the toddler to complain to his mother, and on Dec. 10 she took him to a hospital where X-rays revealed about 30 needles lodged throughout his body. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091221/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_brazil_boy_needles;_ylt=AtQmLZFZmwmuR81EmcpxEllH2ocA;_ylu=X3oDMTNhajRxOGhtBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkxMjIxL2x0X2JyYXppbF9ib3lfbmVlZGxlcwRjY29kZQNtb3N0cG9wdWxhcgRjcG9zAzUEcG9zAzUEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yaWVzBHNsawNicmF6aWxtYW5zdHU-

If I do not go to a friend's New Year party, I will usually stick to small gatherings with friends. I try to stay away from the big crowds and drunks.

Quote: "Just like many pedophiles volunteer as scoutmasters." Let's don't only slur the scoutmasters! How about the parish priest, the unmarried male elementary teachers, the shopping mall Santa Claus, the guard at the school road crossing, etc, etc.

It is amazing that many small businesses do not have change for 1,000 baht note. Usually not a problem, if you are not in a hurry. Seems they can always go down the road and find a friend or associate that has change.
-
I have had a good time at these events in past years. Even if you can't get your friends to go, it is a great place to have a beer and do some people watching.
-
What about a real stinky falang with bad breath and body odor? I imagine McDonald's will ignore the problem unless someone complains or it drives away business.

Sounds like a sadistic ritual, for whatever reason.

I always thought a slave was a person held in servitude. Never thought of an animal as a slave. I guess some could view “man’s best friend†as a slave, but the friendly dog likes the role. Maybe this guy was a cruel master to the poor little monkeys and the monkeys jumped on the chance to get even. You know the saying about “every dog has its day.â€

I always like to have the exact change for the baht bus driver or motorbike taxi guy. A good many small business vendors don't have the change for a 1,000 baht note. So a 5,000 baht note would be out of the question.
