  1. What do cats do all day? According to the following article, cats spend 22 % of their time looking out the window, 12% playing with other family pets, 8% climbing on chairs or kitty condos and just 6% sleeping, 6% looking at TV, DVD or computer, 6% hiding under tables, 5% playing with toys, and 4% eating or looking at food. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091203/ap_on_fe_st/us_pets_cat_cams

    Aliens

Might be a good idea not to believe in aliens. Alien belief led this guy to loose his job. MESA, Ariz. – A former Arizona school district employee is accused of using school computers in an experiment to find space aliens, costing the worker his job and the district more than $1 million. Schools officials say Brad Niesluchowski, who was Higley Unified School District's information technology director, downloaded free software on district computers in 2000. The program, known as SETI(at)home, uses Internet-connected computers worldwide to analyze radio telescope data in an experiment to find extraterrestrial intelligence. But Superintendent Denise Birdwell told the East Valley Tribune that the program also bogged down the district's system and interfered with technology use in classrooms. Birdwell said it will take more than $1 million to fix the problem, including removal of the SETI software. She says police are conducting a broader investigation. Niesluchowski resigned from the district Oct. 22. His lawyer did not return calls for comment. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hQEEZ1hg7uNolSi46p83k1GIVXJQD9CBAQ901
  3. If you are in Pattaya, you should be able to see the space station at those times.
  4. Maybe a good idea at the time, but I bet he now wishes he made a different choice.
  5. I have never heard of law 39. Is it similiar to Thaksin's 30 baht health insurance card?
  6. I have no idea the cost of cataract surgery in Thailand. You know it will be quite a bit cheaper than what you would pay in the west. I would call a few hospitals to get an idea. Shop around for experience and price. You would be surprised on the wide range of prices on the same service.
  7. I was in a touristy area of Bangkok going to the airport early one morning. I stopped a couple of cabs and they wanted a flat rate. I finally found a taxi that would use the meter. He stopped about five minutes into the trip and said I had to transfer to his friend's taxi. I threw a fit. Luckily it was a busy street and I was able to flag down another taxi. I have no idea what kind of scam that was but I was very happy to find a passing taxi.
  8. I should think that the land border crossings also have computers. Let's hope the officials at these smaller border crossings would also be able to stop banned convicted criminals.
  9. Another big payoff by the church for child abuse. "A major Irish order of Roman Catholic nuns, the Sisters of Mercy, today offered to pay child abuse victims, the government and charities a further €128m (£117m) to compensate for decades of abuse in its schools and orphanages." http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/dec/03/sisters-of-mercy-compensate-child-abuse-victims
  10. The way I look at it, it is an outrage that these women are airing their dirty laundry in public. I agree their sex lives should be a private matter. It is a shame people don’t see those silly queens in the same light. They go round trying to “out†people and think it is okay because the end justifies the means. In this day and age people are out to get what they can. Tiger Woods is a multi-million dollar enterprise. Tiger is out to protect the brand. The mistresses are trying to get what they think they deserve. To call these women money grabbing bitches is rather one-sided. Tiger has a beautiful wife and kids and he is out cheating? What would you call Tiger? How about stupid!
  11. I think we are talking about public beaches. Not much chance of blaming the government officials and probably not much chance of litigation.
  12. I guess you feel the same way towards Tiger. According to this report, it looks like Tiger may be paying off his wife for the sake of his career and sponsors. "Not only has Woods issued a public apology on his web site, but the The Daily Beast reports that he will pay his wife, Elin Nordegren, $5 million upfront and another $55 million to persuade her to stay in their marriage for another 24 months." http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/12/03/tiger-woods-reportedly-to-pay-wife-up-to-80-million-to-stay-wit/?icid=main|hp-laptop|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailyfinance.com%2F2009%2F12%2F03%2Ftiger-woods-reportedly-to-pay-wife-up-to-80-million-to-stay-wit%2F
  13. A tourist drowned a few days before and they pull the life guards. Doesn't make much sense.
  14. I am surprised they did both eyes the same day. I do not think that is normal procedures in the US.
  15. "Rachel is a club promoter, Kalika is a Nightclub Marketing Manager. Jaimee is the cocktail waitress. I thought you would understand which one I meant. SHE is the one who is slinging mud. I merely pointed her out for what she is. Now the others have figured out that they can get some money too, so they have jumped on the bandwagon. If they had any moral ethics at all, they would have kept their sex lives private, but, of course, money took over." SHE is slinging mud? Maybe she is telling the truth?
  16. The international space station will be visible over Pattaya at about 5:55 am on Saturday, December 5. If you miss it on Saturday, it will again pass at 5:07 am on Monday the 7th. More information at http://www.heavens-above.com/
  17. I don’t think these boat operators know very much about boating safety. If criminal charges are brought against the operator and company, then things may change.
  18. On the contrary, Italian mountain climber Reinhold Messner watched a UFO in the Himalayas in 1981. Buzz Aldrin saw a UFO on the Apollo 11 mission in space. US Senator Richard Russell saw a disc-shaped UFO in the USSR . In 1492, Christopher Columbus and Pedro Gutierrez while on the deck of the Santa Maira, observed, "a light glimmering at a great distance." In 1676, Edmund Halley, the astronomer who discovered Haley's comet, could recall two accounts involving unidentified crafts. In Central Asia around 329 BC, Alexander the Great records two great 'flying shields.' Even your credible Jimmy Carter reported seeing a UFO in Georgia in 1969. http://www.ufoeviden...on=FamousPeople
  19. Lvdkeyes sais, "His extramarital activity should have between him, his wife and whoever he was involved with. That cocktail waitress got a hefty sum to sell her story, I am sure. That puts her in the sleaze category as far as I am concerned. Another money grabbing bitch!" Is it Rachel Uchitel the sleaze bag you are talking about? Or is it Jaimee Grubbs, the money grabbing bitch with the voice and text messages? Or perhaps the cocktail waitress is Kalika Moquin? When you are slinging mud, you really need to be specific. How dare these bimbos ruin poor Tiger's reputation.
  20. The Thai King will celebrate his 82nd birthday on December 5th. May he celebrate many more happy and healthy birthdays. Long Live the King.
  21. I was saddened to read about this accident. These boat drivers are probably the same ones you see speeding down the narrow sois on motorbikes. Pattaya, December 2 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Wednesday Afternoon, Police and Rescue Units were called to the Bali Hai Port located at the south-end of Pattaya Beach following reports of a boating accident. A collision involving two speed boats had just taken place as one boat left the port and another was arriving from nearby Larn Island. A total of 49 tourists were on both boats at the time of the head-on collision. One of the boats sunk while the other sustained serious damage and all of the tourists were thrown out of the boats. Two Chinese Tourists, Mr. Zeng Hong Loo aged 57 and Mr. Chen Ding Chan aged 50, were given CPR at the scene but later died in Hospital. Initial fears of 3 people missing feared drowned were discounted as everyone was later accounted for. A total of 14 others were injured including Thai Tour Guides. This tragedy was breaking as we prepared the news on Wednesday and we expect further updates in the coming days as Pattaya is coming to terms with a boating accident which will undoubtedly lead to a major overhaul of safety procedures for pleasure boats and speed boats and possible criminal charges against the boat operators involved in the accident. http://www.pattayaon..._02_12_52.shtml
  22. They have come along way. I would think they would use a laser and home the same day.
  23. Bangkok is not the only place with problems with dishonest taxicab drivers. The following is an article about Rome's problem and the way the officials propose to solve it. Online bookings and telephone text messaging sounds like it might work. Would this work in Bangkok? ROME (Reuters Life!) – Rome's largest taxi cooperative is trying to improve the bad name of the city's cabbies, notorious among tourists to one of the world's best loved cities. A ride from either of Rome's airports to the center of the Italian capital can cost twice what it should, with drivers often squabbling over the right to carry apparently inexperienced visitors and inventing excuses not to pick up locals. That is set to end, according to Radiotaxi 3570, which has launched a system for tourists to pay on line before they leave home. "We want to change the public's perceptions about Rome taxi drivers," said 3570's Chairman Loreno Bittarelli at a press presentation, adding that the same services would soon be available in other large Italian cities. The on-line booking system will also allow tourists to order a cabbie who speaks English, French, Spanish or German. Another scheme will let customers order and pay via telephone text message. Improving the image of taxi drivers is part of a broader attempt to spruce up services for visitors and end scams. A colorful billboard campaign recently launched by the town council announces: "Rome loves tourists." Under the slogan: "Be smart, don't try to be clever," the posters tell taxi drivers, hoteliers and shopkeepers that "more honesty and transparency help you and your city." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091130/od_nm/us_rome_taxis
