Do you think his campaign about Obama's birth certificate had anything to do with this action? I hear old Lou is coming away with 8 million dollars. He is crying all the way to the bank. I don't think we have seen the last of him, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to run for the senate.

You are right, put the money where it will do the most good. This article points out that we can easily prevent these deaths by cheap antibiotics and a simple sugar/salt solution with clean water. 3.5 million kids worldwide could be saved.

Isn't that what the Donner party reported?

Hard for me to understand why anyone would try and hit on a 911 operator. Even hitting on a crisis interventon operator is kind of weird but at least I can understand that situation al little more. Here is another weird article. Why would a marijuana dealer call the police about this type of robbery? WICHITA, Kan. – A man and woman who reported to police that robbers stole their marijuana are now facing charges themselves. The 32-year-old man and 29-year-old woman told police five armed men came to their Wichita apartment late Monday night and took marijuana. Police said one suspect accidentally fired his gun and spooked the other suspects. They ran from the apartment to a white Cadillac, dropping marijuana along the way. Police found more marijuana inside the apartment. The couple were booked on suspicion of various drug charges, including selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. http://www.ap.org/

This seems extreme. A doctor may lose his license for a fat comment? I have heard stories of doctors committing all sorts of offenses and still retaining their medical license. This seems a little over the top. RALEIGH, N.C. – A North Carolina doctor could lose his medical license after a patient complained he made cutting criticisms, including telling her she was fat. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported the North Carolina Medical Board will decide if Dr. Earl Sunderhaus of Asheville overstepped the bounds of professional decency. The eye doctor's patient complained Sunderhaus poked her thigh and told her she is fat, and also scolded her as irresponsible for being unemployed and relying on taxpayers to pay for another pregnancy. Sunderhaus admitted he told the patient that her thick thighs and diabetes could cause her to go blind. He made his points again by writing the patient, Gov. Beverly Perdue and blasting the medical board. ___ Information from: The News & Observer, http://www.newsobserver.com

Glad I have missed out on the craze. I did hear a friend brag about the number of friends he has on facebook. BIG DEAL!

I don't think anyone would lump you into the ugly group. Everyone can see you are a cute little monkey!

That is something the people of Myanmar should address and probably will.

The Gates Foundation is doing a good job funding malaria research. My hope is that once a vaccine is developed, the disease will be eradicated. Like the HIV virus, it may mutate and continue causing misery throughout the world.

Time will tell. Too bad the two sides cannot come to some sort of compromise for the good of the country.

Maybe it is a liberal conspiracy or maybe a poor city or population that cannot afford recycling? Some cities don't have recycling but at least you can recycle these plastic bags at many retailers. The grocery stores have a bin by the entrance and even Wal-mart has a plastic bag recycling area.

The Thailand Elite Card on the auction block
Wino replied to CrazyExpat's topic in Thailand Visa Information and News
Bob, I thought you were part of that elite group? At least the elite that bought the card should not be worried about the loss of this little amount of money. -
A friend has given me some of his old DVD's. Many of them are of such bad quality that you cannot understand what is going on. In those cases, the DVD's are definitely a waste of time and money.

I have a friend that goes to Dr. Aree and he has nothing but praise for the doctor. She is very thorough and competent and has a nice way about her. I see Dr. Aree when I go to my dentist. She has a busy practice.

I wish this Belgium economist well. I hope he does well in his new post. "A soft-spoken economist little known outside his home country of Belgium is the unlikely choice to serve as the first President of the European Union. Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy — known as Haiku Herman for his love of penning poetry — was chosen Thursday by leaders of the E.U.'s 27 member states to serve as permanent President of the European Council. The low-profile Van Rompuy, 62, emerged as a favorite after former British Prime Minister Tony Blair failed to win over liberal E.U. leaders, in part due to his support for the invasion of Iraq. Though he offers little international experience, Van Rompuy has won praise for bringing stability to his nation's fractious politics and, before that, helping balance its financial books. A strong opponent of Turkey's admission to the E.U., Van Rompuy begins his 2½-year term on Jan. 1." http://www.time.com/...world/article/0,8599,1941121,00.html?xid=rss-world-yahoo

Worldwide pneumonia kills 2 million children under the age of five and diarrheal diseases kill another 1.5 million kids. Pneumonia detected early can be easily treated with cheap antibiotic. There is also a vaccine available. Diarrhea kills a child because of dehydration. A simple fluid replacement of clean water mixed with salt and sugar can solve this problem, yet the problem persists. In 2006 AIDS spending worldwide was $9 billion where maternal, newborn and child health care spending was about $3.5 billion. Is this wise? Read more at http://news.yahoo.co...rgotten_killers

This article by Oliver Teves, a writer for the Associated Press, shows that the Philippine government is behind the times. I suppose the Catholic Church still wields much power. MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine gay rights group is waging a legal battle to be allowed to run in next year's polls after the Elections Commission ruled it cannot register as a political party on grounds that it advocates immorality. http://news.yahoo.co...ines_gay_rights

I think it may be wise for many farangs to stay away from the Peruvian jungles. Too bad they have to kill you to extract the fat. LIMA, Peru - Police say a gang in the Peruvian jungle has been killing people and draining fat from the corpses to sell on the black market for use in cosmetics, although medical experts say they doubt a major market for fat exists. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091120/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_peru_murder_ring
