  1. Talk about robbing the cradle! This girl could be his great-grandchild. MOGADISHU, Somalia – A Somali man who claims to be a centenarian has married a 17-year old girl. Ahmed Mohamed Dhore celebrated his marriage to Safiya Abdulle late Tuesday in central Somalia before hundreds of guests. Somali adolescent girls are often married off to older men. But it is rare for a man as old as Dhore to marry a girl of Abdulle's age. Dhore says he wanted to marry Abdulle for a long time but waited for her to grow up. He says his children and two other wives agreed to the marriage, as did Abdulle's parents. Dhore claims to be more than 100, but there is no way to verify the claim. This marriage was his 6th; three of Dhore's wives have died. Polygamy is widely practiced in predominantly Muslim Somalia. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091029/ap_on_re_af/af_somalia_rare_marriage
  2. Great, now the Thais can pig out on doughnuts. Will we see all the fat cops in the doughnut shop? Instead of tea money, it will be expanded to tea and doughnut money.
  3. Is the US trying to have more influence in Southeast Asia? I am sure they would like to bring Myanmar into the international community and away from the China influence. Here is an interesting article. US zeroes in on China's clout in Myanmar A senior United States State Department mission is going to Myanmar to ostensibly discuss democracy and human rights, but the subtext will clearly be boosting ties and building influence in a country long considered to be in China's diplomatic pocket. The competition between Washington and Beijing for influence in Southeast Asia could hinge on how Myanmar's generals react. - Brian McCartan http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Southeast_Asia/KJ24Ae03.html
  4. No, trust me. It eats you up and leaves you empty-hearted.
  5. You have to admit, telling jokes about George W is amusing and so easy to do. Do you have any jokes about Obama? I heard a tasteless one that might be funny to some. "Did you hear that Wal-mart has a new Obama Christmas ornament. It will be the first time you can hang a black man from a tree and not get in trouble."
  6. Looks like it is going to get dirty. Will we see Sarah as she really is? I think she really wants to run for the top spot in 2012.
  7. Maybe Newt Gingrich will throw his hat in the ring?
  8. Whether they were sleeping, on their laptops, or in a heated discussion, they screwed up and screwed up big time. I agree, sleeping on the job looks bad but any way you look at it, they were derelict in their duties. The screw up will cost them their pilot's license and their jobs. It is hard to believe that experienced pilots could be so careless.

    Eating Cockroaches

Do you want to talk about cheese? That is not so disgusting to me.
  10. I see no reason in the world why a politician’s private sexual issues has any bearing whatsoever on how he views or votes on say the “marriage amendment.†Whether the politician is gay, straight or bisexual should make no difference. I think it is a tactic that some radical gay people and groups use because they think it furthers their cause. It does not.
  11. This is very entertaining. What will we see next from these two? This morning the world discovered what we told you last week: Levi Johnston is working on a book to talk trash about the Palins. Little Miss Sarah found out too, and she's so steamed she's up to her old shenanigans.Palin obviously hasn't realized what the truth of what we told her last month: just as Levi would be just another anonymous, aging high-school hockey star if Palin hadn't decided to pose him as teen father of the year, out of power Palin would be all but disappearing from view if Johnston wasn't keeping her script interesting. So she spent today acting shocked, shocked that anyone would put him near a camera, when she should be lapping up the attention - just in time for her book, too!In the first part of an interview on CBS' The Early Show, Johnston says he has knowledge about Sarah Palin that would be very damning to her (the full interview is below). Last week, we told you what his svengali, Tank Jones, told us—that Levi has plenty more dirt on the Palins and he's writing a book. It wasn't news to us. Still, Palin's response was pretty great: CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies. Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies - those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention. Oh, that is rich. This is coming from the woman who said David Letterman thought it was "OK, accepted and funny to talk about statutory rape," when he made a joke about her daughter, one he thought was aimed at her of-age daughter, not the younger one. Always blowing it out of proportion. Anyway, Levi isn't selling his body, he's just posing for some naked pictures. There is a huge difference. Well, we don't know how big the difference is yet, but we'll let you know once we see the test shots. And of course the "naked Levi" controversy and her statement has nothing to do with the release of her book, Going Rogue, on November 17. No, she doesn't need to have her name in the press at all. And Levi doesn't need continued interest in his almost-but-not-quite mother-in-law to sell a bunch of nudie magazines to gay men. No way! These two continue to feed off each other like a snake eating its own tail or some kind of weird animal that survives by eating its own vomit. Speaking of which, Johnston also said his upcoming nudie shoot will be very tasteful. "I'm not gonna just go out there and get naked," he said, putting to rest those rumors that there will be a roaring fire, a bear skin rug, and a snifter of brandy involved. Oh, Levi, you make us so sad. For more on the shoot, you'll have to tune in tomorrow. Of course, we won't be watching because we're not following this naked Levi Johnston thing one bit. http://gawker.com/5392154/sarah-palin-and-levi-johnstons-dance-of-death-continues

    Eating Cockroaches

For me, balut is almost as disgusting as eating cockroaches. I saw people in the Philippines eating the nearly-developed embryo. Has anyone here tried it?
  13. Before you dismiss this discussion, let me make sure I understand your position by giving you an example. Former Senator Larry Craig is from the conservative state of Idaho. His voting record reflects his constituent's view in that he is conservative on most issues. He is married with children. If he was not discovered toe tapping at the airport, you would be in favor of outing him. Digging into his private life is legitimate because he has supported anti-gay legislation? He really cannot discuss gay issues because he is not honest with his sexuality. Does that sum it up?
  14. It is a matter of choice. Whatever floats your boat? I think many people from Bangkok like Pattaya because of the proximity. Another factor in picking Pattaya is economics. I think Pattaya is cheaper than many other similar resort towns its size.
  15. That makes sense. I am no sausage connoisseur and thought if they had good German sausage, they might have Italian sausage. What is the difference in the two sausages? Just the spices or do they use different processing?
  16. Looks like both Sarah Palin and Joe Biden will be speaking in Des Moines, Iowa on November 21 in separate fund-raising events. Talk is that Sarah might even be paid $100,000 fee to speak. Is this the beginning of the long election process for 2012? Who, in your opinion, will oppose Obama in the next election? Sarah Palin looks to be the front runner but Pawlenty, Huckabee, and Ron Paul will probably be good challengers. Iowa is an important state in the nomination process and I understand the "marriage amendment" is important to conservatives there.
  17. Here is it in short. You agree in outing people if they make homophobic comment or against bills designed to aid gays. When these people are outspoken you say “they need to be outed and shown up for the hypocrites that they are.†I say this is not right because you are attacking the messenger and not talking issues. You say, “You can't talk about issues with people who are not honest.†I disagree. You say, “People who are gay and are also gay bashers need to be exposed for the hypocrites that they are.†This in my book is not talking the issues but simply personal attacks and that is not right. What do other people think?
  18. If you are in Pattaya, you might try Friendship supermarket on South Pattaya road. Seems to me I see many German speakers buy sausage there, but I am not sure if it is Italian sausage. You might give them a try.
  19. I think Patong is pointing out, that although Pattaya may have the infrastructure; the beaches are not as nice as other resort towns. I agree that the beach in Pattaya is not much, although Jomtiem is a little better; it still is not that great in comparison to others oceanside resorts. Ko Larn in Pattaya bay has some nice beaches as well as down the coast, but some might find it a hassle to go 30 minutes or more to a nice beach from their hotel room.
  20. You can talk about any case, situation, circumstance, issue that you would like to talk about. The fact that you have to know the person’s personal information in order to determine whether that person is able to honestly discuss the subject is extreme.

    Eating Cockroaches

An exterminator friend of mine told me that the common water bug is part of the cockroach family. He started talking about the German cockroach etc, etc and it all went over my head. Being the daredevil I am, I did try a bite from one of the insect vendors in Thailand. One bite was enough. There was not much taste. I found it more crunchy than anything else. One bite was enough for me.
  22. People who are gay and gay bashers need to be exposed? Why? Looks to me, if you can’t win the case on its merits, you are advocating attacking the person. That is not very nice in my book. What do others think?
  23. Looks like these pilots are going to lose their pilot's license and their jobs. What idiots. No contact with air traffic control for an hour and twenty minutes. They both know better, the captain with about 20,000 hour flight time and the first officer with 11,000 hours. The story is they were discussing and looking on the laptops to review new scheduling procedures as a result of the NW/Delta merger. There is no excuse for this behavior. 24. Yes, the autopsy report found that he suffered a heart attack and drowned according to the chief medical examiner for Palm Beach County, a doctor Michael Bell. Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/26/jeffry-picower-autopsy-re_n_334075.html
  25. Vengeance might make you feel good for a while but if you can find room in your heart for forgiveness, it is much better for you in the long run.
