  1. Here is an interesting article by Deborah Kotz Deborah Kotz. I thought women had sex for love. Maybe not? "Why do women have sex? It's an intriguing question once you get beyond the obvious reasons: to perpetuate the species and because it feels good. Two University of Texas researchers wanted to dig deeper to find out what specifically drives women to go to bed with their partners. They conducted an online survey of more than 1,000 women ages 18 to 87 and found, to their surprise, that women aren't all that different from men. The survey asked women if they have ever had sex for one of the 237 reasons identified by the researchers in a previous study. If their response was yes, they would then be prompted to describe a specific sexual experience. The researchers Cindy Meston and David Buss incorporated the findings into a new book, Why Women Have Sex." Excerpts at http://news.yahoo.co...ydowomenhavesex
  2. I think the country must believe the King is better. The Thai stock market rebounded.
  3. This is indeed good news. I hope the king is able to return home soon. I dread to see what happens to Thailand after his departure. Long live the king.
  4. In Thailand, Brazil and many other poorer countries, the options are often a matter of survival. A choice of life as a prostitute or death on the streets is not much of a choice. Thais are a lot like your Brazilian friend, in that they sacrifice themselves for the benefit of their family.

    Boat Races

On November 21 to the 23, the 9th annual Pattaya longtail and sailing race are to be held at Mabprachan Reservoir. Should be a fun time for all.
  6. Sex by the church is viewed as dirty and a sin instead of looking at it as a normal human drive. The Catholic Church puts up with sex only to propagate the faith.
  7. I understand there will be a Pattaya Loy Krathong beauty contest on Thursday, October 22 at Bali Hai Pier. There might be some real beauties there.
  8. Don't you just love beach volleyball in Thailand? You are able to see so many interesting things on the beach.
  9. Did this young lady make a choice? Fifteen year old runs away from home do to stepfather’s behavior. The kid sells flowers on the street to survive. After repeated advances from customers, she turns a trick. Sees that it is easy money but hates it. To survive, she gradually turns to prostitution. I guess she had a choice?
  10. Farang's should be alright. I think they are looking for Thai trouble makers.
  11. Why throw money away. If you are happy, that is what counts.
  12. I would guess first-time visitors. Newcomers are usually easy targets.
  13. I would not think anyone would call me a right winger, but who knows? I am not much of a fan of labels. I try to look at both sides of an issue. In my book, many black and white issues are soon colored grey.
  14. Primitive to the max. Although if one believes, as some do, that the fetus is a child, then murder is murder no matter what.
  15. Is biko something a person cooks at home or is it available from street vendors or in the store? I do not recall ever seeing it, but really did not know about it until now.
  16. They are way overpriced if you are Thai.
  17. Like a bad penny always turning up, I bet he will be back.
  18. Oxygen thief!!! What a way to describe a person. I think we need these low life people around. Doesn't it makes so many other people feel superior?
  19. I would not say FAR more than academics but social skills are important. Something home school children sometimes are lacking. Why not do both conventional schooling and home schooling? Make ballet or violin a fun thing and it won't be school overload.
  20. My friend was very happy with the outcome of his lasik surgery. His nearsightedness made him blind as a bat without his glasses. Now no glasses except for reading. The doctor told him that the shape of his eyeball may change with age thereby again, changing his vision. It has been five years now and no problems. He did do a lot of research before deciding to do the surgery. The age of the laser equipment and the number of procedures the doctor has completed are important factors to consider.
  21. What more do you need? Have a few beers and watch the world go by. That is living large!
  22. Just came across this article about eye surgery. Some people experience blurry vision and other less desireable problems. By MATTHEW PERRONE, AP Business Writer Matthew Perrone, Ap Business Writer WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration announced plans Thursday to study the scope of problems connected with laser eye-correcting surgery, which include blurred vision and dry eyes. The FDA says it will work with the National Eye Institute and the Department of Defense to determine the percentage of patients who experience negative side effects following surgery. The first phase of the project is already under way, with plans for an online questionnaire to help patients gauge their quality of life following surgery, according to an FDA statement. The project will also include a clinical trial tracking patients who undergo the procedure, which is expected to conclude by 2012. "This study will enhance our understanding of the risks of Lasik and could lead to a reduction in patients who experience adverse effects," said Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, the acting head of FDA's medical device division. An estimated 6 million Americans have undergone Lasik surgery, which permanently reshapes the cornea, a clear layer covering the eye. There are no guarantees of 20/20 vision and the long-term safety of the procedure is still unknown. Ophthalmology societies report that about 95 percent of patients are satisfied with their new vision. But a small number of patients have reported permanent damage to their eyes following the surgery, including double vision, dry eye and halos around objects at night. The FDA agreed to look into the problems in 2008 after years of complaints. The agency said last summer it received 140 reports of Lasik-related problems between 1998 and 2006. Lasik procedures have fallen off in the past year as consumers cut back on the pricey surgeries, which can cost between $1,500 and $5,000 Makers of Lasik lasers include Advanced Medical Optics Inc., Alcon Inc., and Bausch and Lomb. Also on Thursday, the FDA announced warning letters sent to 17 Lasik surgery centers for inadequate adverse event reporting procedures. Regulators periodically send letters to facilities that don't follow federal guidelines for reporting patient complaints. "The inspections did not identify problems with the use of the Lasik devices at these facilities," the FDA stated. More inspections of Lasik centers are planned in coming months, according to the FDA release. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091015/ap_on_bi_ge/us_lasik_problems_fda
  23. I know anther person that had a face lift. She was very satisfied with the procedure and plans to do more nip and tucking. Her friends can't see much difference but she is thrilled. Whatever makes you happy?
  24. I think eleo stated in another post that she was in her early 20's. Correct me if I am wrong.
