  1. The young people in the west could learn from this particular Asian quality.
  2. I agree with the post, too. Seems like Western influence in Thailand is changing the way some people eat. Look at the many 7-11's and family marts and all the processed foods they sell.
  3. Some very beautiful Kathoeys but sorry I am not into watching that.
  4. Research your trip. The many travel books like Lonely Planet, Moon Guide and the like are very useful. Determine where your interest lies. Are you interested in ruins, temples, history, culture, or beaches and parties? What is your timeframe and budget? Once you have done some research, others experiences and tales will be helpful.
  5. You would think that 30 years would be enough time but this mutating virus is difficult to beat. You would think they would have an answer to cancer after all these years but these things take time and money.
  6. Khadafy has many people in his nutcase grouping, Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Fidel. Although everyone thought Mao was a nutcase until Nixon went over and opened "red China."
  7. The US & Cuban talks are over. Seems the officials came together to talk about restoring mail service between the two countries. That would be good and a start in developing more relationships. Read more at, http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=107455&sectionid=351020702
  8. [quote name='Beer Chang' date='03 October 2009 - 05:15 PM' timestamp='1254564937' post='1621] I agree. Too much FOX News they watch. The many people that watch FOX can easily believe that the garbage they put out is "fair and balanced." In the past, the rural white poor, especially in the South, were supporters of democratic agenda. Not anymore. The Rush Limbaugh's, Sean Hannity, O'Rielly and the like has helped changed that voting block.
  9. I would sure like to see this happen, although I don't believe Clinton would take the job. He is having too much fun doing what he does now. How about Al Gore?
  10. I find this interesting. I hope this helps Suu Kyi in her bid to be released from house arrest. "Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi held a rare meeting with a minister from the ruling junta on Saturday, a government source said, a week after she offered to work for withdrawal of sanctions on the country." 11. I understand Typhoon Parma changed course and avoided a direct hit on the capital of Manila. Still this strong typhoon has wrecked havoc on the poor Fillipinos. My heart goes out to the whole country. Here is a link for more details, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091003/ap_on_re_as/as_asia_storm;_ylt=AmTEVN347GB2kEz4RhelAA67e8UF;_ylu=X3oDMTJnbzFudjFvBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkxMDAzL2FzX2FzaWFfc3Rvcm0EY3BvcwMzBHBvcwMzBHNlYwN5bl90b3Bfc3RvcmllcwRzbGsDc2Vjb25kc3Rvcm1z
  12. The Tata Nano, that is it. Thanks WannaGo. I thought that would be the perfect car for around town in Thailand. A step up from your motorbike and keeps you out of the rain. Tata had big plans for the car until the local people vetoed the proposed factory site. Production is nowhere near the demand.
  13. I have heard about this park and it sounds cool. I have panned for gold, but never dug for diamonds.
  14. These days, don't they have a little plastic looking device that is inserted in the victims mouth and allows the medic no direct contact?
  15. I think the salaries in the private sector are higher. I understand if you are a good teacher, you can make even more money on the side as a private tutor. The big money is in Bangkok.

    Forever Roman

From what I have read, he has been to Switzerland many times without any problems. It is reported, he even owns a chalet in Switzerland. The problem in this instance, was the fact he was going to receive a lifetime achievement award. The organizers advertized this fact on the internet, thinking it would draw people to the event. I guess the powers that be, saw this news and decided to force the Swiss government to arrest Polanski.
  17. On China Airlines website, I occasionally see a MasterCard advertisement. I have not investigated but may have to research to see if it is a good deal.
  18. You would not believe some of the things you see involving motorbikes. I have seen a guy riding on the back of a motorbike with what looked to be 20 feet of metal rods on his shoulder. Unbelievable.
  19. Loy Krathong is my favorite, too. On my first visit to Thailand, I thought it was so romantic for the young lovers to launch their little boats on the canals. I hope to visit Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai in the near future. I understand the festival is celebrated a little differently in the North.
  20. Whatever happened to that car that Tata Motors was touting a while back? As I recall, it was going to list for only a few thousand dollars and allow many Indians to be able to buy a car.

    Olympic Choice

"the Rio Olympic organizing committee has set its budget at $2.82 billion, with another $11.1 billion going to related expenses such as transport, power and security." Full story at http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20091002/wl_time/08599192754300 Who pays for all of this? Is it at the taxpayer's expense?
  22. Don't count on it. The guy doesn't know when to shut up.
  23. I am not sure if the poor are opposed. Maybe because the bill, by law, may require then to buy health insurance. Perhaps, the middle class are opposed because they are the ones that will end up paying for it?
  24. Rock on. Are they called the Singing Nuns?
  25. It is probably nothing the medic that you are locking lips with relishes, as well.
