This article tends to support the usual bypass graft lasting ten years. By MARILYNN MARCHIONE, AP Medical Writer Bill Clinton has a new lease on life, but there's no cure for the heart disease that has twice forced the former president to get blocked arteries fixed. Treatments like the quadruple bypass surgery Clinton had in 2004 last about a decade on average. Then the blood vessels used to create detours around the clogged arteries start to get blocked, too. A former associate said a football game with 92,000 people in attendance may have been the target. SYDNEY – An Australian court Monday sentenced five Muslim extremists to prison terms of 23 to 28 years after convicting them of preparing for terror attacks on unspecified targets by stockpiling explosive chemicals and firearms. Justice Anthony Whealy of the New South Wales Supreme Court said he had little hope that the men, aged 25 to 44, could be rehabilitated, saying they were motivated by "intolerant, inflexible religious conviction" and had shown contempt for the Australian government, its leaders and laws. The men were found guilty last October on charges linked to preparing for a terrorist act between July 2004 and November 2005. The men — Australian-born or naturalized citizens with Muslim immigrant backgrounds — had all pleaded not guilty to the charges. They had stockpiled explosive chemicals and firearms, though it was not established where they would target. During the trial, a former associate of the suspects testified that the group had considered bombing an Australian Rules football final in Melbourne in 2005 that was attended by almost 92,000 people. Prosecutors said they had also discussed killing former Prime Minister John Howard. Australian court sentences 5 men in terror plot - Yahoo! News

Laser beams shooting down missles? Just like star wars! By Jim Wolf WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A high-powered laser aboard a modified Boeing Co 747 jumbo jet shot down an in-flight ballistic missile for the first time, highlighting a new class of ray guns best known from science fiction. The flying laser's long-awaited test on Thursday showcased a potential to zap multiple targets at the speed of light and at a range of hundreds of kilometers, the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency said in a statement. "The Missile Defense Agency demonstrated the potential use of directed energy to defend against ballistic missiles when the Airborne Laser Testbed (ALTB) successfully destroyed a boosting ballistic missile," the agency said. "The revolutionary use of directed energy is very attractive for missile defense," the statement added. Flying laser zaps missile in first for U.S. - Yahoo! News--

You are right. The judge or prosecutor probably required the defendant to allocute as part of the plea bargain. I guess the defendant would never lie under oath in order to receive the deal promised? That only happens on Law and Order. First you sound like General Than Shwe and now like something off the Bill O'Reilley show. The pinhead and patriots? 55555555.

Maybe a little worse than Jon Benet. The parade pictures I have seen show the merry makers dressed in almost nothing and shaking their booty to the max.

I thought those grafts were good for around 10 years. I guess diet and exercise makes a difference. Back to feasting at McDonald's?

They will never make it to 50-60 years unless Michelle Obama's fight against childhood obesity takes off.

I am sure this would be called child abuse it the US or UK. RIO DE JANEIRO – Thousands of boisterous samba fans came together to watch the first night of Rio's Carnival parades Sunday, and all eyes are on a 7-year-old girl who is the youngest drum corps queen in memory. Julia Lira, her toothy grin and quick footsteps splashed across media worldwide, will be in the spotlight as her Viradouro samba group struts its stuff just after midnight. A judge ruled last week that the girl could take on the coveted Carnival role normally reserved for models and actresses. Children's welfare groups have complained, but the overwhelming response in Brazil has been a shrug and acceptance. Preteen samba queen to parade at Rio's Carnival - Yahoo! News-

This is the first time I have heard a priest busted for cocaine. I hope it wasn't something he was going to share with the altar boys! PHILADELPHIA – A Roman Catholic priest from northeastern Pennsylvania is facing drug possession charges after police say he was caught buying cocaine in Philadelphia. Philadelphia police said Friday that 50-year-old James B. Shimsky, a priest in the Diocese of Scranton, was arrested last month. Narcotics officers said they saw a man in a Jeep engage in a drug transaction the morning of Jan. 30 on a North Philadelphia street. Police said they stopped the vehicle and found a small amount of cocaine inside. Diocesan spokesman William Genello said Shimsky is pastor of St. John Vianney Parish in Scott Township, Lackawanna County, and has been on a leave of absence since his arrest. A phone listing for Shimsky could not be found and he couldn't be reached for comment. Pa. police: Priest caught buying cocaine - Yahoo! News

Who would have thought simple toys like the hula hoop and frisbee would be so popular and fun? Both were great inventions and required the user to spend some energy. Nothing like today's gadgets where the kids are on the couch glued to a TV screen.

How very true. I remember going to New York City for the first time as a young lad, asking for directions was an ordeal.

If one of the bypass grafts has been blocked after only five year, means the old POTUS needs to change a few things if he plans to be with us a while longer. I am glad he has good healthcare coverage.

I think the generals are trying to march into the international community, but doing it their way. The upcoming elections will be far from being fair, but will placate many. I think it best to engage Myanmar rather than isolate it.

Thailand aims to seize all Thaksin fortune: attorney general
Wino replied to CrazyExpat's topic in Thailand News
It has been rumored Taskin bought the judges in the past. If it happens this time, I beleive it will be more expensive and difficult. -
I think it is same, same.

God help us if there is another airport closure. It seems, tourism is just starting to recover.

In another step in the right direction, the Myanmar government officials released opposition leader, Tin Oo from house arrest. They have a long way to go, but at least these baby steps are encouraging.

Sorry to see Mr. Morrison pass. His invention certainly brought joy to many people around the world. From this article, it doesn't sound like he made much money from his invention. I might be wrong. By DOUG ALDEN, AP Sports Writer SALT LAKE CITY – Walter Fredrick Morrison, the man credited with inventing the Frisbee, has died. He was 90. Utah House Rep. Kay McIff, an attorney who represented Morrison in a royalties case, says Morrison died at his home in Monroe, Utah, on Tuesday. McIff is from Richfield, Morrison's original hometown. "That simple little toy has permeated every continent in every country, as many homes have Frisbees as any other device ever invented," McIff said. "How would you get through your youth without learning to throw a Frisbee?" Morrison's son, Walt, told The Associated Press Thursday that "old age caught up" with his father and that he also had cancer. "He was a nice guy. He helped a lot of people," Walt Morrison said. "He was an entrepreneur. He was always looking for something to do." Morrison sold the production and manufacturing rights to his "Pluto Platter" in 1957. The plastic flying disc was later renamed the "Frisbee," with sales surpassing 200 million discs. It is now a staple at beaches and college campuses across the country and spawned sports like Frisbee golf and the team sport Ultimate. An official disc golf course at Creekside Park in the Salt Lake City suburb of Holladay is named for Morrison. Morrison co-wrote a book with Frisbee enthusiast and historian Phil Kennedy in 2001. Kennedy released a brief biography about Morrison on Thursday, wishing his late friend "smoooooth flights." According to Kennedy, Morrison and his future wife, Lu, used to toss a tin cake pan on the beach in California. The idea grew as Morrison considered ways to make the cake pans fly better and after serving as a pilot in World War II, Morrison began manufacturing his flying discs in 1948. He would hawk the discs at local fairs and eventually attracted Wham-O Manufacturing, the company that bought the rights to Morrison's plastic discs. Kennedy says Wham-O adopted the name "Frisbee" because that's what college students in New England were calling the Pluto Platters. The name came from the Frisbie Pie Co., a local bakery whose empty tins were tossed like the soon-to-be Frisbee. Walt Morrison said his father is survived by three children. The family is planning a service for Morrison's friends and relatives Saturday at the Cowboy Corral in Elsinore. http://news.yahoo.co...cmlzYmVlaW52ZW4-

Let's hope the 63 year old former president is okay. He is too young to leave us now. By DEEPTI HAJELA and MARILYNN MARCHIONE, Associated Press Writers NEW YORK – Former President Bill Clinton, who had quadruple bypass surgery more than five years ago, was hospitalized Thursday to have a clogged heart artery opened after suffering discomfort in his chest. Two stents resembling tiny mesh scaffolds were placed inside the artery as part of a medical procedure that is common for people with severe heart disease. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100212/ap_on_re_us/us_bill_clinton

Hope you find something in the right color. I am not sure how long the vendor will be there or the quality of the shoes. They sure had a large selection.

Sorry, I put this on the wrong forum. Please move it to the appropriate one. Thanks.

Quote: "I can grind the beans right in the store. I'm under the impression that coffee tastes best if it's brewed soon after grinding." The blue mountain brand of Moccona coffee I bought at tops was already ground and in a vacuum sealed package. I think it is as good as the beans you grind in the store.
