  1. Here's a scary fact. The British government says that last year, over 250 Brits died in Thailand, and most of them were because of motorbike accidents. That number does not include other tourists from other countries and locals as well, so as to how many have died in motorbike accidents - we can't really tell. Going back, this number was released by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office or the FCO. This fact supports the claims that Thailand is indeed the most dangerous spot for vacations when it comes to Brits, and this is because of the number of motorbike accidents that have caused either death or hospitalization. While the FCO has just looked at incidents that have involved Brit citizens, other tourists from other countries are also just as vulnerable to accidents while they are on vacation. Plenty of Thais use motorbikes in order to get around easily. And because of the popularity of the motorbikes, it seems that even small kids already know how to drive them. Just because they can get you anywhere, and just because everyone's driving them - don't fool yourself into thinking that these two wheeled vehicles are easy to use. Motorbikes are practically easy to rent and great to use - you can get around and head from one place to another without the hassle of public transport. But word of caution - only use motorbikes if you know how to drive one, and if you know and completely understand how the rules of the road work. Remember that even expert bikers get into accidents - how much more would the risk be if you don't know how to drive one? While motorbikes are a great way to experience Thailand - do make sure that you adhere to safety rules of the government. Till then, take care!
  2. I am completely at awe at how Thailand accepts homosexuality. I am not homosexual, by the way, I am straight. But I have plenty of friends and two cousins who are gay. Being friends with them since puberty and now up to adulthood, I have witnessed how some of them have struggled to find acceptance, not just in society, but first and foremost, in their families. It is a difficult thing to see. So to say, the stigma against homosexuals is still strong in our counrty, The Philippines. Maybe it's due to our religion - but maybe it's just because of the narrow minds of present day society. I have always believed that if the god we believe in is an accepting god, then he would embrace homosexuals just as he would straight males and females. I was reading up on this topic a few days back, and I would like to quote a line that has struck me most: "Buddhism, which is deeply embedded in everyday Thai life, has always been the mediator with regard to social differences, and thus, where gaps in understanding exist, acceptance takes over." When that will happen in our country - I have no idea. But I have gladly cheered on behind and beside my two cousins as they came out of the closet, and I would gladly cheer on for other friends as well.
  3. For those who want tips on where to go and what to do, especially those who want to join gay events, check out a diary of gay events for Pattaya at http://www.gayaffairspattaya.com/diary/2009.htm#sep.. They actually have a lot of things lined up on the site (these events are by different establishments, too, for variety) so if you want to have a good time but just don't know where to start - check this site out.
  4. I suppose you end up paying for more by having someone else plan your trip and all. Anyway, there's always the internet for personal researching and planning.
  5. Go legalize it. A lot of women (I suppose from Thailand as well, or perhaps in Thailand specifically) believe that the existence of prostitution reduces rape incidences by some number.
  6. Anthony Bourdain has high regard for the Tuktuk driver - especially in knowing where to find the best eats hahahaha!
  7. Hahaha! I know. The Kaong, the nata de coco and the fruits just add to the color. Glad you like it. You can also try using fresh fruits instead of the ones from the can. Add in avocado/lychees/bananas aside from the usual mangoes, papayas and pineapples. It tastes a whole lot different - but good, nevertheless, especially if you're a tropical fruit fan.
  8. Well. Basic question. Some of you may be residing in Thailand. Some of you may have been born there, but may now be living somewhere else. Some of you may have been born and may have lived somewhere else for most of your life, but have chosen Thailand as your home. Or, some of you may have visited the country at least once, twice or a couple of times during you life. Or lastly, some of you may never have been to Thailand. But all the same, we're here visiting this site. So tell me, what is it about Thailand that you love?
  9. Do you know that Callipygian (Callipygous) refers to having round shaped buttocks? And our fascination for round asses or full breasts began as primates? Early female primates who didn't stand upright attracted male primates or sent sexual messages of their readiness to breed through their round and full buttocks. As human beings developed and stood upright, therefore communicating on a daily basis by facing each other, the preference for the ass was put aside as females humans started to develop round and fleshy breasts (this is not because of the biological need for women to feed children, because as you know, men can lactate too and they don't have huge breasts. But that's another story). So your preference for the ass goes way back to our primate ancestors! Haha.
  10. I clicked Greek!! Middle Eastern. I don't know why - I've just been drawn to their cuisine for a couple of years now.
  11. Oh wow. Really cheap. Yeah, uhm, my friend's going back there by the end of this year to have his done. I must admit, she looks more than a woman than me. hahaha. maybe even prettier. I suppose there are agencies that can plan surgery-and-vacation-trips for Thailand?
  12. I've never tried Fruit Salad with cream cheese before. I just might during my daughter's birthday this weekend. Will post some photos! LOL
  13. I don't know what version I saw. That was on HBO. I just remembered some scenes in their hippie-village and then the murders using those big machetes and knifes and blood on the wall. Then I turned off the television. Cults still scare me.
  14. Are you a Pastafarian? I just googled the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I can't believe I spent 21 years in this world not knowing who He/She/It was. Oh, by the way, Phillip Morris reminds me of my beautiful grandmother. She used to smoke those. I haven't seen her for a year now. She's in Palawan island soaking up the sun and feeling the breeze in her short purple hair, while managing a beach side restaurant. You go Mommy!
  15. Beautiful Boxer. Swoons. Lovely Movie.
  16. I have a gay friend who came back from Thailand with 36C boobs on. LOL. So True.
  17. I can't imagine anyone wanting to marry her - and her lawyer too. Maybe it's the love potion hahaha. I'm not one to wish harm on anyone, but I am not in any way saddened by her painful death. Good luck to her soul. --- By the way, I watched the Helter Skelter movie when I was a kid. Gave me bad dreams.
  18. I want to be a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Whatever that is.
  19. mass safe sex education is the key. so what if people choose to have sex/buy sex - it's their business. the huge underlying problem that comes with prostitution are the diseases that come along with unprotected sex.
  20. Started smoking young, at around eighteen, but wasn't much of a smoker through. I stopped at twenty when I learned I was pregnant and I haven't smoked ever since. The same with booze as well. I think I need a little bit of alcohol in my system to keep myself healthy. I walk daily for at least thirty minutes in the morning, and I keep myself active. Having a 1 year old child gives you no excuse to not be active. Im always chasing after her, carrying her and doing a lot of stuff with the baby in tow. But it's fun, though. I take in multivitamins and Virgin Coconut Oil. I take VCO capsules (hate drinking oil), but I use VCO based products for the body. Hmmm. What else? Oh, I've been trying to get more fresh produce inside my refrigerator. Since I do the groceries, I make sure that at least a third of what I buy is fresh fruits, vegetables and good grains. Meat is still good - but in moderation. If there's one bad habit I can't give up, its soda. I love soda. I love Coke. I can drink a can of coke per meal if no body stops me, and I can do it all day. I've been trying to curb my habit, though, so I get at least one 8oz glass of soda each day.
  21. This makes me want to head to the grocery store to purchase the ingredients - and it's already 12 Midnight here! tomorrow, tomorrow.
  22. Thanks for the insight.
  23. We usually have Fruit Salad for dessert during parties and events. You might want to try this as well. 1 big serving bowl of Mixed fruits cut into bite size pieces. Some common fruits are papaya/pawpaw, mangoes, bananas, pineapples boiled in sugar and water, avocados and lychees. Or you can simply use a huge can of fruit cocktail in syrup. 2 small bottle of nata de coco (red and green) 1 small bottle of kaong 2 cups of heavy cream or all purpose cream 3/4 cup of condensed milk 2 cups of grated coconut meat (buko) 1. Wash and drain the fruits (fresh/canned). 2. Drain the bottles of nata de coco and kaong. 3. Mix the fruits, nata de coco and kaong together in a large serving bowl 3. Mix in the grated coconut as well. 4. In a separate bowl, take the heavy cream and pour in half of the condensed milk. mix them together. Check the taste for desired sweetness. Add in more condensed milk to achieve desired sweetness. 5. Pour the cream and milk mixture on the fruits and mix them together. 6. Chill or freeze the fruit salad mixture and take out to serve. You can also serve the fruit salad individually in little cups or goblets. Top with whipped cream and a cherry.
