Plastic Surgery In Thailand
eleothegreat replied to eleothegreat's topic in Living, Playing, and Reminiscing about Thailand
I believe so as well. If I had the money, I'd probably get my nose done just a bit. Or at least have some work done on my legs - they have unsightly scars from my childhood chicken pox, and they're not coming off no matter how I try. But, alas, I can't afford to pay for cosmetic surgery yet so I'll just stick to talking about plastic surgery. Haha. -
I'd be glad to. I'll post it in a new topic. Fruit salad is the best - and there are plenty of variations (some weird ones as well - like the Tapioca and Fruit salad I just tried last night at my friend's daughter's birthday party.)

Thailand has been deemed to be the "Mecca" of cosmetic surgery throughout Southeast Asia. With cosmetic surgery becoming more popular than ever, millions of tourists travel to the country not just to see the sights but to avail of affordable cosmetic procedures as well. Here are some reasons as to why locals and foreigners prefer to have their cosmetic surgery procedures done in Thailand: 1. The procedures are practically affordable. On certain procedures, you can save as much as 50% from what you would usually pay back at home. 2. The doctors are as skilled and the facilities are as excellent as in other countries. Of course, like in any other countries, there will always be shady individuals and medical practitioners. The key is in researching and in choosing the right doctor and medical facility. Thailand has plenty of skilled cosmetic surgeons who can do safe and confidential procedures. 3. Tourists who visit Thailand for cosmetic surgery also have another thing on their list - and that's getting a private and luxurious vacation as well. Imagine recovering from a cosmetic procedure in a private beach resort with beautiful sunshine, amazing cuisine and a wonderful Thai spa service on the side? All for even half the price of the total surgery cost that you would pay at home. So when it comes to getting a part of your body enhanced, come to Thailand. -- By the way, what do you think of cosmetic surgery?

This one is sure to cause a blizzard. If you're familiar with Mango Float/Peach Float/Choco Float, then here's something that will surely tickle your palate. Best served chilled. 1 500g can of Fruit Cocktail - sliced fruits in fruit syrup or juice 1/2 cup of sweetened/condensed milk 2 cups of all purpose cream three cups of graham crackers, crushed 1 cup of oreos, crushed 1. drain the mixed fruits. keep the fruits. throw away the juice (or keep it for future use). 2. mix the sweetened/condensed milk with the all purpose cream - adjust the mixture to achieve desired sweetness 3. line the botton of an aluminum dish or serving container with crushed graham crackers. 4. pour half of the milk and cream mix over the graham crackers 5. place half of the fruits on top of the milk and cream mixture 6. cover the fruits with another layer of crushed graham crackers 7. repeat steps 4 and 5 8. cover the second layer of fruits with the crushed oreos 9. store in the freezer for a couple of hours to harden 10. transfer in the fride an hour or so before serving ] This is a complete hit during parties. Last week during my daughter's christening, the cake that I bought (and served) tasted completely horrendous. No wonder the guests left their cake slices untouched. Luckily I took out two big serving dishes of Dessert Storm. They all loved it - and that saved my cake disaster. Too bad I forgot to take photos.

I have this book and CD set that I've been listening to for a couple of months - on a not so consistent basis. I haven't learned anything at all than some common words! To which I would say, no matter how great your materials are - you will never learn if you don't put your attention into it.

Who are parents here, or who knows people with kids? Do the kids have compulsory English classes or do they attend separate ESL lessons? -
This thread is for anything about parenting and kids. So post away!

As a sister thread to "What's Your Cellular Phone?" I'm just wondering what your laptop/computer is. Do you like it, or would you want to have something else? I have an HP Pavilion DV6000 - I've had this since 2007 and it's been my buddy ever since. Its quite serviceable - I love how it works. It has a huge screen (15.4"), perfect for my movie trips. I don't usually bring this out though since it's too big and bulky. The speakers are good (Altec Lansing), has all the slots/ports that I need. IT has a webcam and a built in microphone - perfect for recording my 11 year old as she tries to dance and sing Lady Gaga's Poker Face! I would want something newer, though, since I've had this for two years now. I would want something that's smaller and more compact - but still completely powerful. And no, I don't want a netbook.

Is that Chatuchuk or Chatuchak? I read that visitors can reach to as much as 200, 000 to 300,000 people each day. BTW, does this market offer cheaper goods than ones in department stores and malls, or are they just the same?

Just in case you want to make your own Sticky Rice With Mango. (This recipe makes 2 servings) For sticky rice: 2 tablespoons sugar 1 cup sticky rice 2 pinches salt 1 cup coconut milk 1 ripe mango, sliced THE STICKY RICE To make sticky rice, first soak in in water for at least one hour - but you can also do the soaking overnight. Then, put some water at the bottom of your steamer, and then cover the steam section (the one with holes) with muslin or cheese cloth. Pour your soaked sticky rice on the cheesecloth and cover it. Cook on medium heat for about twenty minutes in order to fully steam and cook the rice. The cooked sticky rice will look translucent when it is fully cooked. If you don't have a steamer, you can also cook the sticky rice in your microwave oven. Soak the sticky rice in a bowl of warm water for at least ten minutes. Always soak the sticky rice since un-soaked rice doesn't cook well. Use a microwaveable container and make sure that you keep the water level just a little over the rice. Cover the bowl with a microwaveable dish and cook it in the microwave on full power for about three minutes. Then, stir the rice and move it around. Check to see if all the rice has been cooked (you can see that cooked rice is fully translucent while the uncooked ones have white portions in the middle). Heat the microwave up again for three minutes and then stir the rice again to check if everything has been cooked. Do this process over and over until the rice has been cooked. PUTTING IT TOGETHER Now, after cooking the sticky rice you can start putting everything together. First, heat the coconut milk on a deep skillet or small pot over low heat and let it simmer. Stir the milk constantly as it is cooking since coconut milk will curdle as it is boiled. Add the sugar and the salt as you stir Pour three fourths of the coconut milk on the sticky rice and leave it for five minutes. The sticky rice should absorb the coconut milk and become all mushy. Keep the rest of the coconut milk and spoon it on upon serving. Put the sliced mangoes on top of the rice and spoon a little of the coconut milk you have left over the mangoes. Have fun eating!

Filipino women look like Thai women. LOL hahahaha kidding. Just saying that because I'm from the Philippines. But true, we're usually stereotyped as subservient and all. But it's not really like that. I know a lot of women who have strong personalities and who can stand their ground and all that. But I think it's the nature of Asian women to be home-y. Not necessarily subservient. Oh, this line struck me as well "Unlike American dames, who despise even the thought of serving their men" - I'm not really sure if that applies to all as well. Or at least, I would like to hope so.

How do acai berries taste, by the way?

Online Backup - Are You Protected
eleothegreat replied to eleothegreat's topic in Computers and Technology Forum
Thaimo, I have learned the hard way as well. My laptop crashed, luckily, the tech guy was able to restore and save a lot of my photos and other documents. I still have them now. I have learned to take plenty of caution, though. I use the computer regularly for my clothing and diaper business, so I have a lot of business/finance files like computations and the like. At the same time, all the photographs of my 11 year old daughter is digital, and they're all stored here. With a kid, I'm more prone to take a lot of photos (hundreds monthly!), so I burn photos on DVDs monthly, and they're labeled and stored according to that order. I also save them on an external hard drive. I just actually read about online data backup, and I'm currently thinking of trying it out. Just wanted to know what you think. -
In this day and age, our computers are as important to us as food. A lot of depend on it to make money, and a lot of us use it for personal reasons such as file storage and communication purposes as well. But what if your computer simply conks out, what if the system crashes or what if a disaster happens and completely totals your laptop or PC? When this happens, the first thing that we usually think about isn't even about the hard drive - we usually worry about our files. After all, we can easily replace a PC, but we cannot replace important data and documents that have been lost. Unless they were backed up. There are plenty of back up methods that you can use, but the safest and most secure method in doing so is through Online Data Backup Services. There are plenty of these all over the web, and you can store your files and data through the internet to a remote and secure server. If you have a huge part of your life inside your computer - then maybe it's high time to start backing up your files now. Have you?

I'm from the PI and I take no offense because this is unfortunately true.

I think expert sounds better than know-it-all. Actually, know-it-all doesn't sound good at all. A bit snobby.
