rucus7
Where do other expats ring in the New Year ? I plan to have a quiet one in Rayong.
Thaimo
At my age I would probably be better off celebrating with a glass of Di-Gel on the rocks and seeing if I can find re-runs of Guy Lombardo New Year's Eve specials.
Wino
If I do not go to a friend's New Year party, I will usually stick to small gatherings with friends. I try to stay away from the big crowds and drunks.
Beer Chang
Not really fond of New Year's Eve in the LOS, two many street fireworks. One of my favorite bars will closed and another favorite bar is in Jomtien which is problematic as traffic is a mess that night.
Wino
Those street fireworks are really annoying and sometimes dangerous.
Beer Chang
I think they're very dangerous.
Wino
One of many good reasons to ring in the new year at home.
Beer Chang
House parties are more fun than bars anyway.
Bob
At home in the US, I haven't gone out for New Years Eve for 30-40 years. I've always called it amateur night and believed it was just a bit too dangerous to be driving late on that night. As for what I'll do in Chiangmai? My guess is very little or extraordinary that night. A bar I have frequented is having some kind of minor party and is going to set off some fireworks at midnight. Not sure I can stay up that late...hehe.
Wino
I agree with Bob in that I view New Year's eve celebrations as amateur night. With the risk of being viewed by the younger viewer here as old foggies, I would rather be in a small, safe group rather out amongst all the wild and crazy people. Beer Chang
Back in New York, the second biggest amateur night is St Paddy's Day. The streets are filled with vomit.
Wino
I am not sure some of those Irishmen would be classifed as amateurs. Many of them practice all year long.
Thaimo
The streets are filled with vomit. I have seen similar responses to my cooking.
Beer Chang
I am not sure some of those Irishmen would be classifed as amateurs. Many of them practice all year long. But everyone is Irish on St Paddy's Day so you have lots of non-Irish Irish.
