Beer Chang
About once a month there's an outdoor Issan music festival in Pattaya. But it seems the only way to fnd out the date is via soundtruck. Anyone know a website where these things are announced?
Thaimo
Anyone know a website where these things are announced? I don't know of any, but you could probably ask just about any young Thai person in Pattaya. It is likely they all know.
Wino
Not sure if any young Thai person would know the schedule, but those from Isaan would.
Beer Chang
Not nescessarily everyone young person from Issan, at any rate I don't know when the next one is. But then I'mneither young nor from Issan.
Wino
If anyone hears of a Pattaya Issan Festival in February, please post it. I would love to experience the music and dancing.
Thaimo
If anyone hears of a Pattaya Issan Festival in February, please post it. I would love to experience the music and dancing. If there is no festival, you can still experience the music and dancing. In Pattaya, on North road, also known as Pattaya Nua, there is a restaurant called Thai House. They put on an Issan music and dancing show every night and it is quite good. And even better news! The restaurant is not expensive and the food is good there. Try to get there around 8:00pm. Beer Chang
I gotta check it out Thaimo. Just so nobody gets confused these are two different animals. The one I was talking about is similar in spirit to a big outdoor rock festival.
Thaimo
The one I was talking about is similar in spirit to a big outdoor rock festival. Yes, I understood that. Don't be so quick to look askance at my suggestion about asking young people. Those Issan concerts draw huge crowds. Crowds of who? Young people. They go and seem to know where and when they will be. It can't hurt to try.
Beer Chang
Certainly not looking askance at asking young people. That's the way I find out about them now. I'd still like to see a website though.
Wino
A website would be great and probably bring in more business. I guess the organizers are not that organized.
Wino
I asked a young person when the next Issan Festival will be held on 3rd road. I was told February 14. Has anyone else heard this to be true?
Beer Chang
I also heard February 14th, both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year. Thanks Wino!
Wino
Is it still 100 baht entrance fee?
Beer Chang
Last time I went in December, it was 100 baht entrance fee and 40 baht to rent a chair. Beer/booze cheap.
Wino
Can you buy a bottle of Sang Som at the festival, or do you bring one along? I suppose they have plenty of places to buy ice and mixers.
Beer Chang
You can buy SangSom and it's cheap at the event. BUT the SangSom we bought didn't taste like SangSom but it definitly had a kick to it. They seem to search Thais on the way in, not sure if they're looking for booze or guns. Wino
No use to bring in anything, if they sell everything there for cheap. I usually drink beer but it is nice to have a bottle and share it.
Beer Chang
You can buy bottles there to share.
